Teething...how long does it last?

Hi all,
I have a question on teething. I basically want to know typically how long it lasts for?

I have 3 young children who love to play with him but once he gets too excited he just loves to nip and bite. The kids know its his way of being playful but they do get sick of it.
Will this go away when his teething finishes? The problem I have with some of the training techniques offered are that its hard to impiment this with the kids as they tend to jump and scream when he is nipping at them. They cant just stay still which is understandable.
He will listen to me etc but always singles out the youngest one to go for (I think he see's her as himself in a way).

Any helpful hints?
Thanks

The problem is not with your kids... the dog needs to be taught that nipping and biting anyone will not be tolerated.. even in play.  It is also somewhat of a dominance issue if the dog is fine with you, but not the kids.  The kids should be in on his training, so that the dog learns that even though they are little, they are still dominant to him.  Try having your kids be the ones to feed him, give him water, etc. (with you overseeing everything of course).

Thanks,
I have been doing that with some success with my middle child. However my youngest who is 2 yrs old isnt quite up to that yet. What I have been doing to trying to act overly protective with the 2 yrd old. i.e.
when the pup goes to her i will walk straight up and give a little growl to let him know I am watching. If he goes at her i will growl loudly. This only has limited success though. Any other idea's?

I would stop growling at your puppy right now. You are sending mixed signals. You should never show displeasure until the pup has actually done something wrong. Until then, you want your puppy trusting you and thinking in a positive frame of mind. Positive reinforcement works best on Boxers :)

I know it is difficult with your youngest one, being only 2 years old, but I would try to get the children to substitute a chew toy as soon as the nipping begins.
Then praise the puppy for chewing on the toy.
