Home Cooking

Hi Everyone,

It's been a while since I have been on.
I'm calling out for some easy/nutritious/and tasty (of course) home cooked meals.
My Frazier is pretty anti-kibble, and spoiled :) and I need some more variety.
Any ideas???

Hi Patricia,

I looked up some links for you. I have done home cooking but have usually mixed it with kibble. I haven't used any of the links below.

I do home cooking for my boys. I usually mix it with their kibble.

here is the recipe that I use, however I don't do it just like they do, but more or less the same ingredients. I don't use a pressure cooker, just a large dutch oven.

It's easier than it looks, once you get the hang of it, it's very simple. I don't make it the same way twice, use different ingredients, different vegges..etc. Hubby says my that boys eat better than we do...which is probably right.

Thanks for all the info! I have been on the i love dogs site and it has some great recipes.
I also feed Frazier Raw on alternating weeks (just b/c of cost) and he LOVES it!! I use A Place for Paws in case other Raw feeders want to check it out.

Thanks everyone--and I'm off to research some more of the sites and recipes :)

I try very hard to not give our baby kibble. She gets mostly raw meaty bone diet. But then I firmly beleive that kibble gave our last dog insulinoma cancer. Dogs arent ment to eat carbs like what they put in the processed foods. Our last dog was what we called a rotten boxer of the greatest kind. She was half rott half boxer. After surgery to remove half of her pancreas and the tumor the could get we started her on a raw meaty bone diet. Her coat got soft, her teeth got white. Nothing else we had ever given gave her white teeth, nor did it give her small firm stools. We had a lot less poop to deal with. She loved raw meaty bones.

So I am a firm beleiver in raw meaty bone diet. I supplement with some fish oil, jerky treats, dried lambs lung anything that doesnt have carbs in it, and anything with the least amount of proccessing. It doesnt mean I dont give her carbs at all. I dont beleive she needs them but she does like some things like apples, oranges, bananas, carrots etc. I do about 80%muscle, 10%organ, 10%bone. Plus some table scraps and raw veggies and fruits on very rare occassion. So maybe out of all that hundred 100% she gets 1% raw veggies and fruits.

As a supplement, I often boil up some chicken or hamburger, and add enough rice to absorb the water th emeat is cooked in. Once the rice is doone, I wil loften add in raw eggs, cottage cheese, whatever sounds good for the dogs. I then mix this "doggie stew" with some of their regular kibble. They love it of course. But then again they also love their kibble... they are currently eating Canine Caviar.

I feed kibble and add home cooking to their diet. So far, my Boxers have lived long healthy lives.

Home cooking usually consists of hard boiled eggs, white rice, chicken/fish/beef, and veggies. My favorite veggies to give are peas and carrots. Very good for the dogs :)

For a snack I give raw meaty marrow bones from the butcher.

I cook a diet very similar to what Chirstina and Susan do.
The Boys love the addition....but it is just added at their dinner feeding and in specific portions.
