i'm new and need a lot of advice!!!!!!

Hello, my name is Chrissy and I have a new female boxer pup named Chloe:) She is six weeks old and absolutely beautiful. I am familiar with friends boxers but they just have such a different personality that i want to make sure that i do everything perfect for her and train her properly. I have been trying to read up on Boxer information guides and puppy training but i thought people with experience would be the better way. Chloe is very smart and already responds well to her name, sit and come.....our only major problems are crate training and house training:( chloe hates her new kennel and yelps all night long and it brakes my heart, is there anything i can do to make it a better place for her? With the house training is seems like i just can't keep up with her. I only feed her at specific times and she gets enough water but she is constantly doing her "jobs" inside. If i let her out to do her jobs and we come back inside it normally only takes her 15 mins before she goes again. I think what i am doing is right but any advice would be grately appreciated. I have been reading the book Ceasers Way which seems really good so far but i am not sure if this information is what i need to train my new baby girl. Thank you for any advice!

Welcome to both of you............
I am very happy that Chloe is adjusting to your home so well, but 6 weeks is very young for a Puppy to be removed from it's mother. Usually 8 weeks is the norm and at times even older than that.
Being a very young puppy, she will probably have to Potty every 20 minutes.....
after eating, after drinking, after playing, after resting, after sleeping and after about everything. Puppy this yound will sleep quite a bit.
Just keep a close eye on here and pick her up and take her to the same place to Potty every time and them praise, praise, praise for a jobe well done.
How big is here crate right now???
Sometimes, if it is too big it can be daunting to a puppy this young.
I usually start with a smaller crate and move up as they grow.
Where do yo keep here crate at night and during the day.
How often are you feeding her..........lots of questions, I know.

Beverly gave you good advice. Also the side of caution over this breeder. No responsible breeder will allow their pups to leave their home before 8 weeks old. This is not a good start so hopefully you do not have any serious issues later.

You have a brand new newborn. They just came from a bunch of doggy buddies and now are in a scary colder world all alone. That is how they view a crate. Unless the breeder helped acclimate them before with a crate. Doubtful in your case since this breeder clearly just wanted those puppies gone.

Put the crate next to your bed. When the pup whines, let them know you are there. You will have to take them out during the night as it is impossible for such a baby to hold their bladder. Housebreaking takes weeks and even months to finish up on. So please just be very patient.

At 6 weeks old you could not even hold your own head up. Think of it that way :)

Welcome Chrissy and Chloe!

Here is an article on housetraining. http://www.ncbr.org/info/housebreak.htm
Of course your little lady is very young. Be consistant and patient.

First off, potty training a puppy is like potty training a child, be consistent, lots of praise and just like a child, a puppy does not develop bladder/bowel control and sensation until they are about 12 to 16 weeks old.

You have gotten very good advice. Your puppy is very young and you are going to have to teach her a lot. You are going to probably have to teach her bit inhibition make sure she is very well socialized with other dogs and people. Good luck

Wow well thank you all for all your great advice...now i am kind of frightened about her health??? I hope she will be okay. I thought it would be good breeders because the parents are registered with the AKC and we are just filling out the rest of the paper work for miss chloe. She came with her first shots, worming, dew claws removed and her tail docked plus puppy food and a vet record. Well we are very patient with her and she is doing super well but I just wanted to be sure. I never really thought about bringing her to the same place everytime and i think that will help her be more comfortable. Thanks again and i will check out the training website as well. If you can think of any other good training or important information please let me know. I want Chloe to always feel very loved and appreciated in our home. I want her to be a very happy part of our family. Children can voice their opinion and i know pups can too but it is taking me a while to learn her way of communicating. I do sleep on the floor beside her kennel and keep my fingers in there for comfort. I am not sure if this is good for her but i know i would sleep with my son if he was afraid so i will so it for her. Thanks again for all your help.

Just wanted to let everyone know that Miss Chloe is doing really well with her training. In the past two days we have only had two accidents in the house but she slept in her kennel without crying and i think she is starting to really like it here and know that she is loved. Because we have such a large property in the country i haven't had to have her on a leash much but we decided to start walking her with our Coonhound and she is doing great with that as well. I have never seen a pup catch on so fast and learn so quickly. I am very proud of her and i sure hope she knows it:) Thanks again for all the advice it really sis help a lot. I have noticed that a lot of you have dogs that have been in shows and I know that they must be very well trained so if you have any more advice at all on training or jsut the Boxer breed please let me know. Thanks again!
