This evening, a truly fabulous Veteran Champion said his final goodbyes and left my life..........but never my heart.

Ch Rosend's Booker T, SOM CGC TT

Booker T came into this world 11-1/2 years ago. A lively bundle of fawn energy from a litter of 8 male puppies. The first litter for his sire, Ch Rosend's Bo Diddley, SOM. The first and only litter for his dam, Rosend's Rave Review (Jet Breaker daughter). The first and only Boxer litter for his breeder, Cindy Grant. Cindy and I have kept a close friendship all these years. Lynda Yon took this fabulous boy as her stud fee puppy and I convinced her he needed to be in my home. Thankfully she agreed.

A part of Boxer history started to be written. At least, in my young life. I had no idea what doors this sweet baby boy would open for me. My first Champion and first Best of Breed winning Special. For the first 2 years of showing him, I was simply known as "Booker's mom" until people found out I had a real name. At one holiday Boxer gathering when he was still a young pup, Ski Morawski of Skidoo Boxers got up and yelled: "Why do you keep calling that poor dog BOOGER?" It seemed that was what he heard through the din. Since that fateful evening, "Booger" has been his nickname among his closest friends.

I could go on and on about the show wins and the Champions sired. But to be honest, that has nothing to do with the dog himself. Booker T was my son. He was my baby boy and my constant shadow. Booker T would walk a lake of fire for me. I would have done the same for him. He was a true momma's boy and I loved him for it.

11-1/2 years and so many chapters written. So much life lived. So many show rings getting free treats in. I proudly showed him in the Veteran classes at every opportunity. I even showed him at some local All-Breeds in the Veteran class just because I knew he loved to be in a show.

I thought Booker T still had more chapters to write. I did not notice he had started his Final chapter. Recently diagnosed as being systemic with mast cell cancer, it hit him hard. And it hit him fast. With the help of a qualified Oncologist, I was able to buy him valuable healthy time. And Booker T wanted to continue to write his life story. Things were stable for a short while. He started to have some bad days, but then some good days. We took it day by day. But it became obvious the time was here to say goodbye. When you promise your beloved pet quality of life, the hard part is you have to deliver. So hard in that here I stood again, just 45 days later after saying goodbye to Crystal, having to say GoodBye again.

Booker T is finally at peace. In the past few days, peace is not something that was easy to come by. I laid with him last night to try and give him strength. Booker T's prognosis was poor and his expectancy was short. He proved the doctors wrong and hung in there much longer and with vitality. He was such a healthy boy living in a house filled with love.

Rest peacefully my baby boy. Say Hello to Crystal for me and tell her we miss her dearly.

Thank you for your kind thoughts Ladies. Though the pain has subsided in my heart, not a day goes by where I do not miss my baby boy.
