PogoAddicts is one of the very best Pogo support websites there is. They are fabulous. They help people play the games and do not support cheat programs. For them to get the following letter from Pogo is insane :(
Hello PogoAddiction Members,
I am saddened to have to send out a newletter in such circumstances however, I do so out of the need to inform the Pogo Community.
The Legal Department responsible for Pogo.com has issued a statement to my hosting company ordering that they take PogoAddiction offline or risk legal actions. My host had no choice but to comply with these "threats." I have personally been in contact with the Representative of the EA Legal department who sent this letter and am trying to work things out and find out which "images" are and are not legal. Basically any fansite that has any image from pogo, be it badges, or otherwise, will be getting contacted by the legal department and shut down. I have reassured my host that until EA Legal and myself have worked out details that I will be removing all access to any "potential" images on my site. Therefore I am taking down the main site completely until arrangements have been made. If none can be reached, PogoAddiction will come back up as fully as before except for any images. All the information that you would need can still be found however we will not provide images (that being the worst case situation. I am confident that Pogo will be willing to work things out).
I have expressed my sincerest disbelieve that Pogo would attack a site that does nothing illegal and only enhances the game play of everyone of the 8000+ PogoAddiction members who play DAILY on Pogo.com.
All I ask in support is that you send Pogo.com emails to express your disappointment in such actions. As you can very well see, the auto sites, and the hack and crack sites, remain operational, however PogoAddiction (and other sites that will be soon to follow) can be "legally" threatened because we are copying and displaying images of badges and otherwise. You may submit your emails to the editor of the Pogo Newletter or via the Help Button on the top of the Pogo.com main page.
Rest assured PogoAddiction will NEVER disappear. I am gravely sadden by such disappointing actions on Pogo's part, and I will outside of my regular Club Membership no longer support Pogo, nor will I allow my site's staff or members to offer prizes that benefit Pogo (at least for the time being.) It is unarguable that PogoAddiction's Staff has given about in the neighborhood of $1000 dollars in Pogo related prizes over its almost 2 years of existence, and I will not support a site in this regard if they want to permanently shut me down for simply enhancing others experiences of Pogo. The Staff has dedicated hundreds upon hundreds of hours of time to enhance Pogo players experience in Pogo, including the Social coordinators who have DAILY and sometimes twice DAILY pogo gatherings to play on POGO.
You may continue to visit the forum, and contribute as much as you want, and I hope this does not affect your loyalty to PogoAddiction. Again all I ask in support is your continued presence on the PogoAddiction forum and your sending of letters to Pogo.com to voice your opinion on this matter, and how PogoAddiction has helped you and made your experience more pleasant! Thanks!
