I am getting my first boxer and I am extremely excited. What I want to know is how will my new boxer and cat get along? Are boxers good around other pets? The cat is the only other pet we have.

It will seriously depend on the cat. Some cats are tolerant and some are not. My Maine Coon had to find a happy medium when I brought home my first Boxer. Believe me, Smokey was not impressed.

Just monitor them together and do not leave them alone. Kitties can hurt a new puppy if they feel like lashing out.

Are you fostering the Boxer or adopting them from a Rescue?
I would very very careful about this situation. A cat having kittens might not appreciate a new dog in her house. And the Boxer may not be very gentle about new kittens either.

Be careful and keep everyone very well separated.

I'm on my 2n and 3rd boxers and all three of mine have gotten along great with our cats...they all sleep together....we have been lucky so far.

I really think it depends on the individual animal....some boxers are good with cats, and some are not so good, I'd watch very carefully for a while...and introduce them slowly....and always supervise their meetings...

Good luck
