Okay, so I have not actually got my boxer girl yet but I want to be prepared with the basics that I need including her kennel, bed, water & food dishes, and of course toys. I did read the favorite toys subject in boxer chit chat so I know what your boxers like. howerver, I wanted to know that you actually recommend as far as toys to start with. I just don't want to spend money on a toy that is too small or is not going to stand up to the boxers strong jaws. We asked for a female about the age of 1.
All of my Boys love Stuffies, but they love them to death in a matter of minutes! Only get them at Christmas and they are removed as soon as they are dead1 LOL I have many hard rubber toys, bones, kongs and some of the harder dental prickly bones. I do have ropes, Tennis Balls and a Ball on a rope to play retrieving outside. These are for supervised play only. I do not give them any type of Rawhide Chews because they can easily swallow large portions and you can really run into trouble with bowel obstructions this way. When in doubt with a toy, I supervise...........hopes this helps a bit.

Even a 1 year old will still need to chew. I would get a couple large Nylabones to help with that. As to stuffies, they all must die. Every Boxer knows that :) Getting them from a Thrift Store can be a less expensive way to go.
Personally, my girls LOVE the Talkie toys. The cat that meows, the duck that quacks, etc.

Just a note of caution on toys. Many stuffie dog toys have squeekers in them. I am referring to the little round air bladder type internally that goes squeek squeek at the dog chews. If you have a Boxer who must kill all stuffies (and I don't know many that don't) I would caution you against this type of noise toy. I had a very frightening and expensive episode with my Lacey. She swallowed the squeeky from such a toy, and ended up with a blockage of her small intestine requiring emergency surgery and removal of an 8 inch section of her small intestine. I now stick to talky toys, balls that have the small port on the side that makes kind of rasperry sounds, or toys with no sounds at all. Many dogs do fine with squeeky toys, but I will not allow them in my house any longer... not worth the risk in my opinion.

Good advice! Thank you! I will probably do without squeeky toys too.
Can't the dogs swallow the talking boxes too tho?
Anything is possible with a boxer.... but the talking boxes are pretty large and most would have to chew them into small pieces. My dogs have never "dismembered" a talky box.

I've heard of Boxers swallowing tennis balls...I've never seen the toy are are talking about, so I can't say one way or another. Stuffed toys last about 5 minutes here. What has lasted the longest for my boys is the holley roller, cuz, kongs. I have a rubber chicken that has lasted about a year, but that's because I keep it put up, out of sight, take it out once in a while. I had a pic of all the toys that has lasted, let me see if I can find it, then I will post it. If I can't, I'll take another. With time, you'll learn what will last & what wont just by the feel of the toy. I know that sounds funny, but it works for me..!!
