Santa Cruz visit
Permalink

This evening I drove to Santa Cruz to visit Casa Curry. I got kisses and wiggles from Lacey; Boxer girlie. I got snuggles with furry and getting bigger Callie; Feline girlie. And I got to meet the newest kitten in the household, Kismet. Cassius was gone for the weekend with his daddy.

Susan and I hit Marie Callendar's for lunch. Originally we were just going to hit the salad bar and buy a pie since it is Pie Month <g>. But they had a huge brunch spread that just looked wonderful. Next thing you know we have plates piled high with food and are eating like there is no tomorrow. My brunch consisted of sausage, ham and egg omelet, potatoes, enchilada, shrimp pasta (yum) and salmon drizzled with Bernaise sauce. A slice of apple pie for desert and I was ready for a nap. But the afternoon had only just begun.

We took off from the local harbor for a fantastic 2 hour boat ride. Susan's neice hooked us up with this wonderful ride and came along. It was a huge sailing yacht the cruised all around the Monterey Bay harbor. They served some wonderful snacks and as much wine as you wanted. The wine was very tasty. I used to crew on my Godfather's sailboat for weekly races. It was nice to NOT be the one running around with sails and grabbing lines. Even my godfather would have loved this yacht. It was lovely!

The weather was grand. We enjoyed watching the sea lions hanging out under the boardwalk pier and making a ruckus. We watched tons of giant kelp floating to the surface as well as a huge Pelican flying low across our bow. For me the neatest sight was seeing several large floating jellyfish. I have seen them in the aquarium, but never "out in the wild" as it were. LOL---not sure what else to call the open bay. The heads on some were the size of a basketball.

I drove home and am now just nodding off to sleep. The Boxers were happy to see me. Of course I got the official sniff session; "where have you been??".

I'm so glad to hear that you and Sue had a lovely visit, and that all is well at Casa Curry.
The Brunch sounds yummy.............we did the same thing yesterday after our newest Grandson, Gabriel, was Baptized.
I still feel stuffed.............LOL

Christina,
You haven't lived, LOL, until you've been stung by one....jelly fish are a very common sight over here on our beaches...
Sounds like a great day all around.

I'm glad Susan and clan are back to normal.

It wa indeed a lovely day. We went out on the beautiful 70 ft Chardonnay II. The sail we did was called "A Taste of Santa cruz" since the wines, beer, and food served were all produced in Santa Cruz. It had been quite a long time since i had been out sailing... I am usually out on the bay watching whales, etc, and they are not sail boats. It was so lovely, and relaxing... zzzzzzzz
