Daisy will be having fun tomorrow
Permalink

Hi just thought I'd share some news.  Daisy and I got invited to come back to a different class from her instructor that we have been seeing.  We had finished her level 2 classes and Patty ( her instructor ) ask me if I'd like to attend her class on Sat mornings because she has 2 other boxer puppies (5 months old) and she knows I have been looking for other boxers for Daisy to play with.  Needless to say I of course said we will be there!  It is a repeat class of the one she just took but she is only charging me half because she knows I want Daisy to intermingle with other boxers.  I am so excitied.  This will be the first time she will be around any other  boxers since she left her litter mates.  Bacci (my girl who has gone to the bridge) never had the chance to play with any other boxers as I could never find anyone with a boxer that lived around us.  I have read many threads in here and have come to learn that boxers play their own way.  I understand they can be quite vocal and rough.  I just wanted to make sure that this is just play so everyone at class does not freak out if they get loud.  Usually the rule at class is if the dogs get too excited and vocal playing they get a few minutes of time out to settle down so I am a little concerned on how they will play.  The last class Daisy was in I had a disappointing incident with a lab puppy that was there.  We had both just arrived and they have played before so we let them off leash to play.  Now the owner of Cleo (the lab) was a teenage girl ( who like most teenagers knows everything ) She usually comes alone but this time her father came along.  Anyways the two of them are playing and they were chewing and rolling all over the floor. Cleo had pinned Daisy down for a few seconds and the Daisy turned her over and pinned her down.  When this happened the Dad ran over yelling and pulled Daisy off and kinda shoved her over.  Both Patty and I yelled "Hey" and then Patty asked what the problem was.  The dad then said (Very snotty) " I don't appreciate bringing my dog her to have her get mauled by a aggressive dog.  I bit my tongue and Patty then informed him that she was supervising and they were just playing ( heck they were not even growling at each other)  She then asked him if he heard his dog yelp or anything and he said "no" and then she said " Did your dog run back to you" and he said "No" and then she said " Please sit down and let me run my class"  He then sat back down and then he pouted the rest of the class.  Boy some people can just drive you nuts.  It kinda irked me the rest of the class and I was glad it was the last class with them.  Daisy has never shown any agression at all.  So anyways maybe you guys can understand why I am a little concerned on how they will play.  I would appreciate any info anyone can give me Thanks!   Sorry this was so long!
Marian and Daisy!

I hope that Daisy has a great time in this upcoming class playing with some other Boxers.
My guys can sound downright ugly when they are wrestling, but it is strictly play with no aggression involved. Have fun!

Some parents are over protective - even over their dogs. I am sure the obedience instructor can tell aggression from play. And puppies like to play. Just like children.

I think she will love to see other Boxer puppies !

Hi Marian,

People really are a pain at times...there was an over protective doggy dad in Fraizer's class also.  The pup was a bull mastiff biggrin He would follow his pup around while he and Frazier played, and sometimes even lead him away.  I guess he thought Frazier was too rough? ? ?

I agree, and found that Boxer's do play their own way.  Frazier would go around pinning all the other pups, big and small, and all in good fun.  No aggression involved.  His best bud happened to be a little lab that enjoyed his pinning smile and would just bite and play back.  That guy should loosen up a bit, huh?

Anyhow, I hope you and Daisy enjoy your play date!  Wanna hear all about it.

Patricia
