Another teething question...

My pup is 7 months....when should all of their teeth be in and teething all done with?

I ask b/c he is white, and I noticed a few months ago, he had rusty color tear stains under his eyes.  He was getting several teeth at that time and then they cleared up.  He recently has gotten rusty again and I just wonder if it may be teeth again.  I also checked his ears, but they look pink and squeaky clean...

Any thoughts?

Hello Patricia,

Most dogs should have all of their adult teeth by 6 to 7 months. The molars are the last to come in. At 7 months, it's very possible these the last teeth are coming thru.

I honestly have not dealt with tear staining so will leave this to someone who can give the answers. I do know there are many reasons it occurs. IE: Blocked tear ducts, diet, irritants in the air causing excess tearing, ear infections. I know it does occur in the fawns and brindles also but it's not as noticable.

Most dogs have tear stains. White dogs just show up more than others :)
Sometimes it has to do with the food that is fed. Dyes, etc. But I have seen even that not be a factor.

Teething..............they usually never stop truly teething. However, Phylis is right. It is not uncommon for a 7 month old to still be chewing everything in sight. My Brandi just turned 2 years old. She still loves a good chewing session now and again :)

So, Mr. Frazier is in fact getting his molars....Had Dr. Borys take a peek-one sides in, the other still has baby teeth.

He also had a bit of "yuck" in his right ear...So, I am treating the ear and 1/2 the teeth are in, so I hope his eye drainage clears up again when these things clear up.

It's real interesting how much pups are like babies---runny eyes, ear infections etc. while teething.
