Well after almost 2 years, I finallyl was able to get another Boxer. My last one died. I have to wash her about every 2 days because of body odor. (Hers) Is this common in Boxers? My last boxer had the same problem. I would like for Jasmine to be a inside dog.. But I don't want the house to stink... Any Ideas??
Thanks

Boxers don't typically have a strong body odor. And you should never bathe one every 2 days. You will strip their coat of what little oils it has.

Is it possible you are just sensitive to a typical dog odor?

Frequent bathing can actually cause body odor in dogs. Because the natural oils are stripped away with each bath, the skin dries out, the hair dries out, and infections (bacterial, fungal, yeast, etc.) take hold and start "smelling up the joint". I suggest you take your dog for a thorough evaluation at your vet. Tell them about your concern over body smell, an dlet them check for any skin infections or causes of the odor. IF your dog is found to be healthy, then I would suggest bathing no more than 2 times per month, unless needed because the dog got into something messy.
Odors can also result from the dog rolling in "wonderfully' smelly things, a much more frequent occurance in a dog left outside.

Anyway, just some ideas. Like Christina and Phylis, I have never found a healthy Boxer to have an offensive odor.

[spoiler]

Perhaps, you should speak to your vet about what could be causing the body oder, mine don't have that problem, my frist one didn't either....I usually bathe them once a month in the summer and early fall, after that, they get a bath maybe every other month...

I just wanted to add one more thing, boxers are inside dogs, they shouldn't be lett outside.....they are sensitive to extreme heat and cold...
Good luck, I hope you find a solution.

Nancy is right. Boxers are definitely an indoor breed. Any normal doggy odor is just something you work with alongside any other living arrangement. So please do not consider leaving your Boxer outside for such a reason.

If body ordor were such a heinous crime, there are a few humans I know that should be living out in their backyard instead of the house :)
