Skin fold infection?

I was so focussed on Voodoo's tumor, I forgot to post about her skin fold infection.  The vet said it is very common in boxers, around the lips (where hers is) because of their face shape.  She is on anti biotics 2X a day for 2 weeks, and the vet said it would help if I washed it every other day or so with soap.

OK stupid question - is there a specific soap for this?  Would peroxide be a good option?  It's just a little crusty - nothing oozing or anything.

Anyone have any experience/thoughts on this?

Actually, it is a fungus. If this is in the folds of the face. Don't worry, it sounds worse than it is. Typically bag balm is the best treatment. However one of my show girls gets this often. She has a lovely tight face with deep wrinkling. LOL---a blessing and a curse because she gets the same problem in her folds.

I am going to ask her owner to join this board to give you a better answer on how she treated it. No medication - it is not a true infection.

It's on her lower lip, and is pretty crusty - which I guess at some point it was fairly oozy.  The vet gave her 2 weeks of anti biotics to resolve, guess we shall see.

Would love to hear what others have experienced.  Like I said the vet said it is very common.

A friend with a Frenchie uses an A/B powder on her girl. Smells awful but it works. However, Frenchies are very prone to staph infection. So I think they are a bit more serious about the approach.

I usually clean their faces and folds every day with soap & water.
Have been using J & J Baby Wash.
I have used Neosporin or Benadryl on various facial problems.
Mine have not had a specific infection or fungus, though.

My Holly has a deeply wrinkled face.  She gets sore areas at the bottom of the wrinkles sometimes and to treat this, I clean the area with peroxide on a Q-tip.  Then dry it well and powder with baby powder to dry up any remaining moisture.  After a couple treatments like this, she is all healed up.  The key is to keep the area between the wrinkles as dry as you can.  If you bathe your wrinkley-face kid, make sure you wipe the wrinkles individually so water doesn't sit in there and fester.
