Just returned from Tanner's standing Vet Appointment.
He has gained another 1 1/2 and is now 64 pounds. This is exactly where I like him to be.............so the Prescription Food has helped.
His heart is normal and his pulses are very good.
After consulting with CSU Veterinary School again, they have decided to try Tanner on another palliative medication.....Leukeran. It is a cancer treatment drug.
He will begin the Meds tomorrow because I had to call around because no one here (except my hospital Pharmacy) has it in stock. Since it's on a Vet's Rx they wouldn't fill it for me...................Hey I thought I'd try. In two weeks at his next appointment we will do a CBC and see where his Lymphocyte count is.
This is not a cure, but a treatment that may reduce the Lymphocyte count that eventually turns the blood into sludge.
He will start on 1 Tablet every other day for the next 2 weeks.
It is worth a try as long as he has no side effects that will cause him any undue discomfort in any way.
I am being cautiously optimistic............
