IMO you should switch them now.
I am not feeding Denee Puppy food..........he's on regular adult food, the amount adjusted to meet his requirements as he grows.

I went to adult food at a very early age(6months). Or at least it seemed that way when I did, but I couldn't of been any happier with the decision.

I would switch now. The old wives tale of a puppy needing special puppy food till at least 1 year old, is false. Any high quality dog food will meet the demands of your growing pup.

As a side note... giant breeds such as Great Danes should never be fed puppy food. It causes overgrowth of the bones...the muscles, ligmanets and tendons, can't keep up, causing lameness and sometimes permanent joint damage.

The Seminar our KC presented this weekend had some heart breaking pictures of Danes, Bulldogs and even smaller breeds fed Puppy Food that caused overgrowth in bone.  Each Dog improved completely within 2 weeks to one month when put on adult food to slow down bone growth so that the Ligaments and Tendons could catch up.

6 months old is the typical age I suggest folks switch from puppy food. Though it does depend on the dog. Make sure your switch is a gradual one.

I usually recommend switching larger breed dogs to adult food around 4 months of age. So I would buy a bag of adult and start mixing food and switch now. Lacey never ate puppy food after she came home with me.
