Just a question for everyone.... We will be closing on a new house (Yeah..it has a nice big yard..1 & 1/2 acres)  and as I have never had to move with a dog....should I prepare her someway for the move?   I don't know if she will get anxious seeing thing move out of the house.  We will be moving slowly as we are going to rent our current house (until the market changes) so there is no immediate time that we have to be out.  We figured we would move a room at a time.   We are only moving 2 1/2 miles away.  I just wondered how to do it so it is not very stressful on Daisy.

Marian...Since your moving so close & can take your time, I really don't see a problem. When we moved from Fl to Tn...the boys didn't have a problem at all. However, we lived in a almost empty house for 2 weeks before our furniture was delievered. They seemed uncomfortable at 1st, wasn't sure about this large empty house, but as long as we were with them, they were ok. After our furniture was here, things were back to normal.

SInce you can move one room at a time, I see no problems. Just take Daisy to the new house as much as possible, get her use to the yard, the house, have some of her toys there...etc....I personally think she'll be ok.

Good Luck...

Thanks! I plan on doing that. We are going to be painting a few rooms first so I think I will wait until we are done with that before I introduce her to the house. Don't think I want painted puppy paw prints thru the house lol

As Vickie said, "Since you can move one room at a time, I see no problems."

We were a Military Family for 30 years and our Boxers moved everwhere with us, to include Germany, Korea, Hawaii and all over the States.
They did extremely well as long as they had their crates, toys and us with them.
I do have to say that each one of them "Christened" our new homes by peeing on the floor in one room and that was the end of that!

Daisy should be fine with the move. And congrats !

Phylis moved her entire house and brood from Florida to Michigan. She can tell you how it went, but I believe the dogs had no problem. Especially when they found out they had their own mini-forest they could now run in :)

Yes, all of mine did really good adjusting to their new home. The hardest part was traveling for 2 days with 5 in the expedition!!
