Hello! I recently purchased a female boxer pup and named her Rylee. This is the first boxer I have ever owned so I'm not very familiar with them. She is approximately 10 weeks old and seems to be a little scrawny. You can see an outline of most of her ribs and hips. Is she underweight and if so what should i do? Also, when I purchased her the guy told me he dewormed all of the pups but today when she did her business after she was done there seemed to be a thin cord like string at her bottom that was quite long. She was outside playing in the grass the previous evening so I don't not know if she ate any grass or what not or if that could have anything to do with it. I am very concerned and kind of confused. PLEASE HELP!!!
Samantha... first off it is always a good idea to start off right away with a visit to your vet with a new puppy. Worms are common and often take more than one deworming. Also it sounds like the puppy might be a little on the thin side so you may need to adjust the amount/type of food you are feeding. Your vet will be able to help you with all this and will also be needed over the coming months for vaccines, advice, spay/neuter, heartworm prevention, etc... always good to start off building that relationship from the get go.

Hi and welcom Samantha and Rylee. Sue gave you excellent advise. Get Rylee in to see your Vet immediately and have him do a Puppy Health Check. He can then give you information on Vaccinations, spaying and proper diet. Good luck with your new Baby!

I agree with what has been said...a visit to the vet asap. Talk to your vet about having her spay at or before 6 months of age, it's the best thing for her. Worms can cause wieght loss. What and how much are you feeding her,.??
please keep us updated on how she is doing...and we would love to see pictures....:)
Hello!! :) and thank you for all of the advice. I took her into the vet and she told me that she was doing just fine and just to up her feeding amount slightly. There were no worms, that was just me being a concerned parent :) Rylee is now nearing 6 months old and is a joy to have around! Thanks again!
Here are just some random pictures that i have snapped of her over the past couple months :) she's into this new thing now to were she literally plays tag and hide-n-seek with us. It's sooo precious! <3
Rylee is just adorable...............you have a really lovely girl.
