FLORENCE, South Carolina (AP) -- A man was charged with involuntary manslaughter after six of his dogs attacked and killed a 10-year-old boy as he walked home, prosecutors said.
Bentley Collins also was charged Tuesday with keeping unconfined, dangerous animals, prosecutors said. The dogs appear to be bull boxers, authorities said.
The body of John Matthew Davis was found in Collins' yard Friday night after the boy didn't return to his home less than a mile away, Sheriff Harold Grice said.
Investigators have not determined why the boy was in the yard with the dogs, which have been placed in the pound, Grice said.
I posted this in Boxer Chat because I want to point out that we need to keep our dogs in control and trainined. Stories like this help push more AR legislation against us even being able to share our lives with our beloved pets.

How incredibly awful. Owners such as this are the problem... not the specific breed(s) involved.
Everyone should always remember... be a positive dog owner/guardian. A well trained, well socialized dog, will rarely if ever make a headline like this.
I filled out the membership with my bio, and signature. It was all completed but when I tried to log in my member name and password it went to a blank page and didn't do anything else. I tried it several times.
So, I guess I am anonymous until I figure out what is wrong.
About the death of the boy, what a tragedy. It is bad enough that our boxers are often confused with pit bulls and get a bad rap, but this case will have ramifications beyond the death of the boy.
Every dog has the potential of being dangerous, depending on the breeding, socializing, and circumstances.
We had friends that had a boxer years ago and they ended up having to euthanize the boxer because one of the kids left the gate open and the boxer stalked a person walking down the street and bit her. According to my friend, this was totally out of the dogs nature and was a well loved family member who had never bit anyone before. There was a lawsuit over this case and the dog was ordered to be put to sleep. The family was devastated.
We have kept this in mind over the years and have placed great pains in making sure our dogs were socialized and supervised and on leash if outside our house.
