Many people have a heart to volunteer in dog rescue, but jobs, kids, and a slew of other commitments sometimes prevent great folks from taking that step, even though their heart is grieved at the senseless destruction of thousands of helpless animals.
Transport is an awesome way to play a vital part in saving lives without joining an organization, going to meetings, and working fundraisers (although if you *can do that, please jump on out there!).
By placing yourself in a transport database all you are doing is saying it is OK for a transport coordinator to contact you and *ask if you are available during the dates of transport.
I have been listed with a different transport database for about 5 years and have only been called on three times. So it is not like you will be approached consistently.
Check it out and see if this is an area where you can make a difference!! Thanks!!!
Great point Jonney! I have also been a contact on a rescue transport for several years. I have only been asked about 4 times total, and alas, my work schedule did not allow me to help out. But at some point in the future... it may. This is a really easy way to help a critter get to it's forever home! I encourage everyone to sign up... the boxer undergroud railroad is another transport site you can check out
