Thank the good Lord for putting Jenry Bejarano on my tv set to drool over. This New York boy is hot! And I do mean boy. He looks like he is 25 but he is only 16! He was adopted as a baby by a this bitty lady whom he now towers over.
He is polite, he has a good voice and I am praying his shirt somehow magicly falls off his chest during his Hollywood audition :)
Although, my DH groans every time I watch Idol.......I still haven't stopped. Will be interested to see when they all arrive in Hwood and the real competition begins.

Well, the boys sang Tuesday and they were not good. The only ones I really liked was the larger curly headed guy (he was great), the blond with the spiked hair and the final guy (though his eye scare me).
The girls sang last night. MUCH better! Thank you! The gal at the end can blow, but she needed to come down just a couple notches. But the girls really were good.
Let's see which 4 go home tonight...............................

I hate to say it, but the guys should just pack their bags, bow their heads, tuck their tails and head home now... save themselves any further embarrassment.
There was no competition whatsoever between any of the guys and most of the girls. The guys appear to be totally outclassed this year. There are really only 3 guys who even have a chance of making it past the first combined competition, IMHO!!

Sorry to say, but I have to agree with you Sue. The Boys were totally outclassed by the Girls. They will really have to step up a few notches to be in the same league as the top 4 girls.

The boys stepped up their game last week, thankfully! But now the new controversy is over one of the girls in some racey photos. Even x-rated photos. I saw the photos. LOL--I wish I had her body. And I am sure that hound dog Simon loved them .

Yeah, I heard about that - saw a few photos myself... the pics they revealed on TV were not-so-risque to me.. I thought they were tasteful enough. *sighs* I don't know... look at what society is nowadays - SEX SELLS, plain & simple. Look at all the 12-16y/o girls that are out now (either in music or movies) - they appear to be well over 20 w/the way they dress (and half of them wear more makeup then I do)! *haha*
I, myself, think photos that are tastefully done are no big deal... as long as you're not completely nude with your legs spread wide for all to see, who are you hurting, really?! *hehe* I mean, come on -- if the girl gets signed to a company, the pics that will be used on her album cover will probably be even sexier!
Gina was voted off last night. What a mistake. I really like her. For the girls, she is #3 for me, though I think I would put her just below Melinda. Melinda is the bomb!
Sanjaya continues to be allowed to play in the sandbox. Such a waste. Not a great singer by any stretch. He has very little range and no true power. Just a puppet for those that want to ruin the competition :(
I like Gina too. Darn that Howard Stern and his drive to ruin Idol. Where is Sanjaya's self respect... would you stay in a competition knowing you were the funny/pity vote? Aaacccckkkkk

At this point, I have alot more respect for William Hung. At least he knew he was bad but just wanted to participate. LOL---I still crack up when I remember his original audition after which he added "I have no formal training". I have to give him credit for at least knowing all the words to that gosh awful song, She Bangs. Most contestants forgot words to even the simpliest of songs.

It's the end of the road for Haley Scarnato, and the best damn legs on American Idol. Well, okay. I did not write that one. And her legs are all that kept her on the past 3 weeks. Seriously. Thankfully American males could only keep her afloat for so long :)
Sanjaya remains untouched. My spirit for this show at taken a few hits though. And it was announced that Tuesday's show had the lowest ratings of an American Idol segment in a very long time. A sign of the times? Believe it or not, the network blamed Daylight Savings Time saying people were still confused by the time change.
LOL!!! Hooo boy!! Anyone got a bridge to sell to these execs???
LOL!!! Hooo boy!! Anyone got a bridge to sell to these execs???
American Idol's credibility level will remains directly proportional to the amount of time that Sanjaya remains in the competition!

Well, our kiddies sang last night. Chris "Timberfake" really was not very good. I was surprised he got good remarks from the judges. Country is not his bag, but I will admit he did try.
Despite myself, I did like Phil. He did a great job with a passable vocal but awesome stage presence. He performed that song pretty darned well.
Lakisha, Jordin and Melinda were all fantastic, as usual. These girls are seriously the core of AI this season with a bit of Blake thrown in for seasoning. I was not completely enthralled with Blake last night. Not that I don't like his voice, but his song was so low key for him. The judges liked it and I agree it showed his versatility. But I want my bee-boxing guy to break out again.
Now, I have saved the worse for last. Sanjaya. Okay, in the past he has had a passable voice. Not a powerhouse nor even remarkable. And last week he actually was decent. But last night? EEK!! He was awful horrible and terrible. Not necessarily in that order. He was out of tune, he was completely flat and he lost himself a couple of times in the song. Seriously, if anyone was new watching the show, they would have thought he was a member of the audience who won some raffle to sing on the AI stage. And then quietly go back to his seat.
PLEASE AMERICA!!! Send this guy back to his seat!!!!

Here is an article on Xomba about Sanjaya. I am finding a few of these are rather entertaining................... ____________________________________________
This week, Jennifer Lopez was on the Ellen Show discussing her opinion on the recent group of American Idol Finalists. When Ellen named Sanjaya, the audience groaned and hissed. As Lopez tried to give her lukewarm opinion on Sanjayas chances, the crowd continued to boo. They grew so agitated at the mention of the controversial singer, they were just a step away from throwing chairs and setting fire to overturned cars.
Why does this marginal singer incite such passion and outrage from people? An the Ellen show audience? These kindly middle aged ladies from Boca Raton and Indianapolis couldnt overheat enough to melt ice cream. But Sanjaya Malakar causes them to riot like a mob at a Syrian anti-Bush parade.
Thankfully the show ended before people were able to construct a likeness of Sanjaya from old clothes and coat hangers and burn him in effigy on stage while Ellen danced.
Washington Post Staff Writer Friday, March 30, 2007; Page C01
One of the most telling bits of information in the miniature Web site biography of "American Idol" contestant Sanjaya Malakar is the revelation that "I don't get embarrassed." Perhaps he should.
Malakar has risen to fame and stubbornly remained there because of his Michael Jackson-ish, Bee Gees-like dedication to styling his hair. It has been pin-curled into a thick mop of ringlets, slicked straight as if it had been fried by a Japanese perm and, most recently, scooped into a single row of upswept ponytails to create a faux mohawk. During his Tuesday night performance, Malakar was so proud of his hairdo that he wagged his head back and forth, making the energetic movement of his locks the most dynamic part of his performance.
Photos Sanjaya's 'Idol' Style Sanjaya Malakar has risen to fame and stubbornly remained there because of his dedication to styling his hair.
The other contestants still try to convince the audience that they have a strong enough voice to justify a recording contract and enough stage presence to move CDs. They seem to consider whether a song is appropriate for their personalities. Some even occasionally listen to the advice of the guest mentors and try to apply the suggestions to their performances.
Last week, Malakar chose a rock song, "You Really Got Me," that he lacked the grit and confidence to sell. But it gave him the opportunity to shake his shaggy mane and flap his tongue. This week he chose No Doubt's "Bathwater," a song about unrequited love that talks about splashing around in an old boyfriend's bathwater. Malakar grinned through the song, leaving most of the lyrics -- " 'Cause I love to wash in your old bathwater / Love to think that you couldn't love another" -- unintelligible. But who needed lyrics when he had that ****amamie hair jutting off his head like a rooster's comb?
As America's ears bleed, it sounds as though Malakar no longer is attempting to sing -- that is, to enunciate lyrics while simultaneously carrying a tune. How can he compete with Lakisha Jones, whose lusty voice could blow out woofers, tweeters and everything in between?
So Malakar has given himself over to style. Substance, what little of it there is on "American Idol," be damned.
He is fashioning himself into a male pop tart. Not just a smiling Bratz boy looking to exploit a healthy head of hair to juice up his image, but someone using fashion as a steppingstone to fame.
Malakar doesn't just have good hair, he is his hair.(hehehehe--love this line)
He follows in the long-standing tradition of female pop stars with only the barest whisper of a voice, or a passable croak, who have used style to make themselves into successful entertainers. See: Britney Spears, pre-rehab, meltdown, marriage. See: "Pussycat Dolls: The Search for the Next Doll." See: Diana Ross and her hair -- post-Supremes. See: Cher and assorted headdresses.
Malakar is the rare male performer who relies so utterly on styling. Only those boy bands whipped together in the past by Dr. Frankenstein-like producers came close to being so fashion dependent. Because those bands didn't have gripping vocals or musicianship, they relied on sharp choreography, decent hooks, cute faces and muscular physiques to keep the fans screaming. Styling was important, but it was only part of the mix. Elton John, David Bowie, George Clinton are known for their style, but they don't owe their careers to it. Usher has great style, but he owes a greater debt to his dance moves and his abs. Andre 3000? A 50-50 split between impressive style and massive substance.
At 17, Malakar does not ooze testosterone. He has a slight build that never fills out his studiously hipster clothes -- such as his graffiti blazer from Lulu last week. He typically looks as though he has been borrowing his wardrobe from a grown-up. When he is onstage, he gives no indication that he can dance. And when he races into the audience, one worries that at any moment he will trip over his shoelaces. Historically, he can be compared to Shaun Cassidy or Leif Garrett -- Tiger Beat regulars with bland voices but splendidly tousled hair.
Of the other male contestants, Blake Lewis and Chris Richardson are battling over who can best imitate Justin Timberlake in his skinny-tie-wearing, vest-sporting, bright-white-sneaker-loving "Bringing Sexy Back" phase. It is a distinctive style, but one that is self-consciously reserved.
The recently dismissed Chris Sligh, who might have benefited from a bit more styling, looked as though he did little to prepare for the evening's performance other than shower. And it seems that the ghoulish Phil Stacey's pre-show routine involves fluffing his knit cap, drinking a pint of blood and avoiding cloves of garlic.
Malakar plays the asexual pretty boy with the gleaming grin, who always looks like he spent more time primping his hair than rehearsing his song. He is a compelling presence onstage not because he makes the heart go pitter-patter but because he's putting on a hair show. Next week, it would not be shocking if he appeared with his hair teased into a beehive, out of which flew live bees.
Women with only barely tolerable voices have built singing careers by transforming themselves into fashion personalities. Madonna, for instance, would almost certainly not be a one-name pop icon without the help of rubber bracelets, bullet bras and copious amounts of hair bleach.
The door to fame has cracked open for Malakar. And he is working the zeitgeist with his hirsute shenanigans. Nothing about his tactics are unusual. The only surprise is that, in this case, the performer so willing to be reduced to a big smile and even bigger hair is a man.
I missed the show tonight as I was at a dog club meeting. But I just looked at the blogs and all I can say is FINALLY !!!! I am sure I will see the recap on YouTube, but Sanjaya finally was sent packing. Whoopeeee!!!
Now we can finally get back to the true competition :)

Well, our kiddies sang again last night. This show was a 2 hour production which was also promoting "Idols Giving Back" with footage from Africa and around our own country. Sprinkled into the incredibly thought provoking footage was our youngsters giving their performances.
The show started with Chris "Timberfake" Richardson whom I thought did a great job. I really did like his performance and I thought it was very appropriate for the tone that was set for last night. I was pleased the judges agreed.
Melinda Dolittle was next with another incredible performance. I don't even know the song she sung but I loved it. And huge snaps to whomever did her makeover! Suddenly her typically round and pumpkin type of head was a more oval shape and her hair looked great. I was staring at her trying to figure out how they were able to make her suddenly look all grown up and actually kind of hot .
Phil was okay. I liked it but was not blown away. I do think he did better than his typical performances. Probably because he was more sedate this time around. The guy kind of creeps me out so I don't really like the "in your face" thing he sometimes tries to do.
Lakisha should not have tackled Fantasia's song. Sorry 'hon. You are a great singer, but you are not quite Fantasia, whom I cheered for during her entire season. Lakisha gave a noted safe delivery on a song that Fantasia went all out on. For those that saw Fantasia sing her song (and yes it is HER song) 2 years ago, you will probably still get goosebumps. She poured her heart and soul into that song. Lakisha seriously paled by comparison. And I do find that sad because I think Lakisha has a great voice.
Blake, my boy. I love you but you put me to sleep last night. I realize you had to pick a more solemn song and even Simon recognized that. And I realize you really could not be dancing around the stage and beat boxing while you were trying to show reverence. But I think my head started to nod as you sung..........zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jordin - WOW!!!!! I did not even know the song. Not a clue. And when Simon said it was 60 years old, that at least made me feel better for not knowing it. OMG---what a performance! I got the feeling we were down the final 2 and she was going for the gold! 17 years old and a complete powerhouse. I cannot say enough over Jordin's performance except I actually felt tired. The amount of energy she poured into her song last night was staggering. What an incredible young lady.
And I have to say this again, Sanjaya is gone! Last night I finally felt like AI was no longer a joke or a punchline. Last night, American Idol was back baby!!

I think Jordin is fantastic........................This competition, in my mind, is between Melinda and Jordin. Melinda represents the here and now and Jordin represents the future...............going to be a hard choice!!

I agree. Jordin has edged out Lakisha in my mind. Both Melinda go up there with pure hearts and a humble attitude. And both definitely can bring it when it comes to their performances. If Blake can rally next week though, I think he will make it into the final 2 with one of those ladies. For me, the top 4 are Blake, Jordin, Lakisha and Melinda. Of course Melinda is leading the pack. Damn that girl is good!
Big surprise last night, no one was voted off. Though Ellen Degeneres offered to go just in case she did not get enough votes . Next week week we have another full show but 2 people will be going home. Slice and dice time!

Last night we learned the 2 Idol contestants leaving us, and it was no surprise. Chris Richardson and Phil Stacey have left the building.
Folks, we now have a competition !!!
Your top 4 Idol contenders and my personal favorites in this order:
Melinda Doolitte - this gal is incredible. She is filled with scary amounts of musical talent. Likable sweet personality and an unwilling wallflower. Basically this girl has no idea just how good she is. Thankfully America knows :)
Blake Lewis - I know I go back and forth between him and Jordin, but seriously....he has the best over all talent. He does not just sing the words to a song, he recreates the song. Clearly he feels the beat in his heart and mentally can see it all melding together; a perfect melody and a heart pounding rythum (sp?). Though he needs to get the frosted tips back in his hair. His new 'do is pretty bad.
Jordin Sparks - 17 years old and going on 27. Mature voice on a lovely girl. Her song last week reminded me of Fantasia Barrino on her own Finals show. Going for all she had and just about ripping her heart out with her song. THAT is an Idol moment and Jordin had one. I hope she can have another one.
Lakisa Jones - This woman has "the pipes", as the phrase goes. Unfortunately she does not have the personality of the other 3. If she could act more relaxed and perhaps smile more often, America will keep her in the running. She can seriously sing and put conviction in her songs. But she also needs to have a softer side, or at least fake one. America wants to love their Idol and not just be intimidated by them. Hang in there Kiki and show America you definitely have the skills!

I am getting caught up from being out of state. Lakisa Jones was the Idol whom left last week. I completely agreed with this departure. I think she is a fabulous singer and quite possibly still has a future. But she does not have the personality and sparkle of the 3 remaining contestants.
I think this will be a much needed break for her before the Idols tour. Kiki, we still luv ya !

Last night, Melinda Doolittle was sent packing. I cheated and read the east coast blogs ahead of time. I could not believe it! America, you made a horrible mistake. I could not even bring myself to actually watch the show last night. I was far too upset by such a crappy decision.
Not to sound bitter, but I have no desire to watch the Idol finale next week. We just lost the best singer and sweetest soul of the competition. While I do give props to Blake and Jordin, the competition is over for me.
I think I understand why she was voted off. But I don't agree with it. And I fully expect to hear she will be moving on to bigger and better things. America got it wrong this week!

I am out of state again. Sitting here in Oklahoma. But wanted to post a final finals for this year's American Idol. The winner is Jordin Sparks. I did not watch the finals show on purpose. It seriously stopped being good for me when they got rid of Melinda last week. I have no doubt Jordin sang her heart out and deserved the win. But Melinda was the true IDOL of this season.
Here's hoping Idol 2008 is better !!!
