My poo poo eater

Ok here is a yucky one..
Autumn is about 3 half months old.  I am started potty training her about a month ago.  Nothing drastic.  Just mostly blah blah letting her know she has been bad.  Couple times is she is repeatably having accidents on the floor and I have taken her out she gets a swat on the butt with a paper and a time out in the kennel.  Well this last week I think if she has a poo accident she is eating it.  I am thinking she thinks no evidence then I am not in trouble.  I have not had this problem before.  Now both of my other dogs I have caught them eating poo before but it was cat poo and I can not seem to break them of the habit.  I have just had to move the litter box so they cant get to it but the cats can.  Now I can not 100% say that she is the one eating it and not one of the other dogs.  So my ? is how can I get Autumn to not eat her poo and all of them not to eat cat poo or any other poo... Is anyone else having poo problems with there dogs?

Thanks
BluStorm.

Someone asked this on another thread. The only thing you can truly do is pick up her dropping often. There are things you can add to their diet but they don't always work.

Just start picking up after her at least a couple of times a day.

Usuly everyday I go home for lunch to let the dogs out.  I only work two miles from where I live.  This is very handy when you have a puppy.
Well Yesterday at lunch I had put all the dogs in the kitchen and Robert back in his kennel after a run outside to calm him down a bit.  I had just ate my lunch and was getting ready to head back to work.  I step over the baby gate into the kitchen and Autumn and had an accident on the floor and is hiding in her kennel.. I coax her out and tell her it is ok she had gone when we were outside so I couldnt really yell at her.. told her it was ok and was petting her so she got all wiggly and pee on the floor a little so now I have two things to clean up.  So I tell her to go to her kennel and she does Sierra had allready gone to hers so I go accross the kitchen to get some papertowles to clean the floor and what do I see as I turn back around... Foxy... he is cleaning up after Autumn... Blah Blah Blah... so it is not Autumn it is the poo poo bandit Foxy.. I cant tell you how many times he has gotten in trouble for this.. So he got the paper accross the butt.  I know it wont stop him.. Least now when Autumn wants to give me a puppy kiss I know it was not her...

Everyone of my dogs and fosters have gone through a faze of poo eating while they are young....AAnd its usually just a puppy faze that they get bored with.

If you start to pick their poo's up as soon as they have been to the toliet some pups see this as you are taking away something that could be of value...so they beat you to it LOL

They can also turn to poo eating if they arn't on a suffient diet and are lacking in something.

Alot of people swear by putting pineapple in there feed...something that puts them off eating their own poo but wont stop them from eating other dogs/cats poos.

All my dogs recently had a bad virus they all had the runs and were sick so their diet was lacking and all four of them started eating poo for a week but as soon as they were well and fit again theys stopped doing it.

If it was my pup I would completly ignore it ,, if you tell him off or remove the poo before he gets to it he will want to do it all the more, in my experience they grow out of it fast.

I'll shut up now lol

My boy has done this too a couple of times. I guess its good to know he wasn't the only one lol. I haven't seen him do it except a few times so I hope he is growing out of it. I only get worried that he will get sick.

While we are on the subject of accidents whats a good carpet cleaner to help get rid of evidence? I know some dogs/cats will pee where they smell it.

I think just about any cleaner that is made specific for eliminating pet urine and other dog stains. We bought one that is supposed to get rid of the scent and clean the carpet. It has seemed to work very well.

you can try feeding her pineapple to stop her from eating her own poo, it makes it have an undesireable taste. not sure about the cat poo though?

I had not heard about using Pineapple. But who knows, it may work with some dogs.

LOL---personally I think it is gross. I know, they say hello on that end too. But still ashamed
