I have considered buying a GPS unit since I do so much driving for dog shows. And occasionally I get lost. After asking for other people's experiences, I decided to buy a Garmin c330.
This morning I gave it a test drive. I put in that I was driving to work from my house. The route it picked for me was a more normal route via main roads and freeways. However I take side streets and a narrow canyon to get to work. Much more relaxing and less apt to be entangled in a freeway traffic jam. I started the?opposite way on a main street than the Garmin wanted. So for the next 3 blocks, the voice kept trying to get me to turn around. By the 3rd time I ignored it, it gave up and recalculated my route. It then came up with the route I *was* taken and proceeded from there. It accurately told me distances and turns. It had an interactive movie-type of a screen as I drove. I took a couple different streets to my job than it suggested, but every time it would state it was recalculating and then would "find" me on the map. It would accurately list side streets and freeway ramps as I passed them. And it would tell me the miles I had left for my next turn.
Oh yea, I am hooked !!!!!
