Purebred?

Its not that important but curiousity has overtook me... When we rescued Roxxi it was from a breeder who was overcome with the amount of dogs she owned but wanted the puppies to go to good homes or she would have to have them euthanized. Her mother was a beautiful reverse brindle boxer, with registration papers but the father I believe was a stud not owned by the breeder.

We are schedualed to get her registered next month, however, she isn't showing as many boxer facial characteristics that we are used to seeing in pups at this age. Her body is perfectly boxer-esque =] If I post pictures will you guys have a look-see and tell me what you think?

(edit: she is being CKC registered only, so photos will be neccessary instead of any sort of vet blood-test.)

Please ..post a picture(s). Someone will be happy to give their opinion. How old is Roxxi.??

The breeder you rescued her from should know something about the sire...but then again, she may have so many dogs, she doesn't know who the sire is, or remember who the sire is.

She looks like a mix to me. In fact, I thought she was at first the Cattle dog mix you were talking about.blankstare

She is not a purebred Boxer. Even though some Boxers have a longer muzzle than they should, her entire head into muzzle is structured more like a Rhodesian or similar headed breed.

As long as she becomes a spayed and beloved family member, it won't matter her pedigree. However it is rather harsh of her breeder to threaten to kill the pups she created just for convenience sake :(

Love her, hug her and that is all she needs to know :)

Obviously she is at least 1/2 boxer... just like my own beloved mutt (shhhh don't tell him that) Cassius. But the biggest clue for me that she is not a purebred is the overall head shape, angles, etc. There are many longer than necessary nosed boxers, but they still generally have the overall head shape... squareness and stop between the eyes. She is a doll though. But I see some other longer, narrower headed breed in her too. My own boy is 1/2 Boxer, wolf and GSD. When he was younger, he looked more Boxerish... these days with a completely white face (he will be twelve in March) the Boxer look is nearly gone.

My family are huge spay/neuter supporters =] we weren't planning on breeding her anyway. It does sadden us that the breeder was so dishonest, she sold most of the puppies for one hundred dollars a piece as registered offspring.

We were thinking perhaps pit bull terrier, the woman had a few of those too.

She is a beautiful baby, and we love her just the same =] She's got the boxer attitude and definately that playful, loving energy that we have came to love of the breed so much!

Thanks so much =] so any ideas what her other half was?

It's sad, but there are so many dishonest so called "breeders" out there it's ashame. Whats important that she is loved & well cared for, purebred or not..!

She is definitely half Boxer and perhaps Pit.
I know you love her dearly, and that's the most important thing.
You have given her a caring home where she will recieive all the appropriate care that you can give. (((Roxxi)))

I think you guess is correct - Boxer x Pit Bull terrier. Roxxi definitely has that classic Boxer expression. Look at those eyes!
