I was honored to be asked to judge Boxers in Sweepstakes at the Boxer Club of Southern California on Friday. This show is in Indio and is right near Palm Springs. I decided to fly down there and into Palm Springs airport. I was told the entry was 42 Boxers for Sweeps alone. Wow!
The weather was decent. It was chilly but the rain clouds stayed just off into the distance. My husband told me it was hurricane-life conditions back home. I had a large entry of some of the most lovely youngsters to judge. As a breeder I was very happy with the overall quality. As a judge I was happy with the large ring, good ground conditions and organized show committee members.
Both my Best Junior and Best Puppy ended up being lovely fawn girls. It was hard to even get down to them as there were so many others I really liked. Some of the classes were hard to even decide whom to put 1st. This is a good thing in that it means we have breeders truly doing a wonderful job with their breeding programs.
After my judging was over, I was able to sit back and mingle. Well, I will rephrase that. I was able to bounce around and mingle. LOL--I rarely sit still. I have always loved the Palm Springs shows. Many years ago, this is the show I finished Booker T. To now come back as a Sweeps Judge seems almost surreal. I enjoyed my assignment, I enjoyed the dogs and I enjoyed visited with friends afterwards.
I have to add one neat thing. A friend and I went to dinner Friday night to treat ourselves. We ended up at LG's Steakhouse. OMG! Not only was this place pretty darned fancy, but the food was incredible. We each had Prime Rib which was divine. We had a Caeser Salad which had the dressing prepared from scratch at our table. We were in a small room of only 4 tables with a roaring fireplace going. It was sheer heaven and a wonderful way to end a very long 12 hour day.

Congratulations. I have no doubt the youngsters you put up were fully deserving. To have a hard time deciding just shows the quality of the dogs/bitches shown under you.
And yes folks... I can attest to the fact that C RARELY ever sits at shows!!!
