Dwarfism?

Many of you have probably seen the pictures of Dharma and noticed that something was a little different about her: she is approx 1 yr but her head only comes to my knee.  The shelter said she was a basset/boxer cross, but the more I see of boxer mixes, the less I think this is the case. Her snout and ears aren't especially long for a boxer, her tail is docked, and her coloring is all boxer.  The vet has even commented several times on how, except for her legs, she looks just like a boxer. So my question is do boxers suffer from genetic dwarfism?

A Small Problem Dwarfism in Dogs

I was going to ask if she was a small Girl for her age.
There can be nutritional reason for dogs to be on the small side, but her front feet do look rather Bassetty.
The only way to know for sure is to do a Canine DNA Test to see if she is 100% Boxer.
When Dogs are cross bred for the first time, you can come up with any mixture of characteristics of the Sire and Dam.

I think Dharma is adorable.............

Thanks. I think she is pretty adorable too. We just wanted to know what to expect since dwarfs have their own set of health problems. And we're curious to see which theory is correct.

I have not seen true dwarfism in Boxers. The few Boxers I met that were insanely tiny also appeared to be misformed in some ways. And they usually showed up to have a true illness of some type. If Dharma is eating well, having firm stools and got a clean bill of health from your vet, I would not worry about dwarfism :)
