Sleeping issues after seizures

Hi, 

I need help.  Tank suffered a grand maul seizure on Memorial Day.  He is was a specialized hospital for a week in ICU. 

Since, then he gets up 2 to 4 times during the night.  Mostly wanting to play. 

He wakes up anywhere from 1 am to 5 am.  If we crate him he bangs around in the crate.  If we don't he comes over and nudges me until I get up. 

We limit his playing outside to 15 mins anywhere from 3 to 6 times a day due to the heat. 

Some one suggested a doggie treadmill. 

I average about 5 hours of sleep a night.  Of course, he takes naps during the day!weirdface.gif

Does anyone have an suggestions.  The doctors haven't been of any help.  He is on Potassium Bromide and throid med for the seizures. hmm.gif

Give him a good long walk before you go to bed at night. That would be my best suggestion. And give him a hug from me :)

I wish I could, take him for a walk, but there are people in this neighborhood who allow their cats and dogs to run free.  Some of them are very large. 

We do take him out to play in the backyard before going to bed.  That is also anywhere from 15 to 30 mins.  As I mentioned, he gets numerous trips outside during the day and early evening.  

Our yard isn't very large, but he still gets over heated quickly.   I think the medicine makes him sleepy and he gets it twice a day.  So, he craters around   8 pm for an hour or so. 

We go to bed around 10.  I tried staying until 11pm one evening and played with him.  It didn't really help.  He is getting a little better.  At first it was just about every hour or two!

I was really hoping that was such a thing as a doggy treadmill!biggrin

We spoil him something awful.  If I ever figure out how to put pictures on this pc, I load one of both Tank and Buttons (the old girl).
