BOXER EYES
Permalink

Hello,  I am in love with our Boxer Chase.   I couldn't have asked for a better dog ever.  He is currently five months old and about 60 pounds.   I have a question in regards to when he wakes up he has a lot and I mean a lot of gunk in his eyes.  It is only in the mornings no other time of day.   Is this normal for the breed?

My Boys occasionally have "eye goobers". They do not have an excess at any time.
I would make an appointment and take Chase to see your Vet. When in doubt err on the side or caution. Welcome to the Board!

[spoiler]
Both my boxers have 'gunky eye' (as we call it) in the morning..... and I just wash their faces with a wash cloth.
I would worry if the discharge was green...a sign of infection....

Frazier has some eye boogies in the mornings this time of year......allergies I assume. I also just wash his mug with a damp cloth.
