On Friday I was incredibly saddened to lose Charlie. For those that do not know, Charlie was my crowntail Betta fish I have in my office. He lived in a 5 gallon community tank. I adored Charlie. He was like a puppy dog in a fish tank. He would wag his tail in happiness and dance around for a cookie. I had had Charlie for 15 months and celebrated every single 1 month birthday. He was approximately 4-5 months old when I first got him. He had no illnesses and was in great health. LOL--he did nap more than usual the last couple of months. Fishy old age. I think it was just his time to go. I cried looking at his tank without him :(
I had not planned to visit the aquarium store until the following week. But somehow I found myself there late that evening. They had just gotten in some incredible Bettas. I reluctantly looked at all the new lovely fishies. One grabbed me. He was spunky, plucky, outgoing, flarying and colorful. Evertime I walked by him, he danced for me. I found myself drawn to him like I had been drawn to Charlie so long ago.
Long story short, my resolve melted and I brought home Bleu Boy. He quickly adapted to my 5 gallon tank and started chasing the cat fish around. He eagerly ate an offered meal and generally settled right in. I started to cry again. Both from sadness and joy. LOL--I am getting far too emotional in my older years.
